100 days without a CLA
We ended our previous blog with the words:
“The ball is still in the bank’s court. As soon as the bank is willing to move forward, we are ready to continue the negotiations!”
Three weeks have now passed, and little has changed. We have since passed the symbolic milestone of 100 days without a collective labour agreement. That is not only a striking number of days; the issue is also becoming noticeably more prominent among colleagues.
Time is running out
The bank’s results remain consistently strong, and we therefore continue to see sufficient scope to compensate for inflation. We stand by this position. As long as there is no new collective labour agreement, wages will not increase and the gap with inflation will continue to widen. This means that, as employees, we pay the price every month for the bank’s refusal to move. That stance is in no way consistent with being a good employer—especially for an organisation performing as well as ABN AMRO.
Time to break the deadlock
After 100 days without a collective labour agreement, it is becoming increasingly difficult to explain why there has been no movement. Employees are entitled to clarity about their future and their purchasing power.
We are and remain willing to enter into discussions. Our commitment is unchanged: to reach agreements that do justice to employees’ efforts and safeguard their purchasing power.
That is why we are once again making a clear appeal to the bank: Take your employees seriously. Listen to the voices within the organisation. Return to the negotiating table. Let us discuss fair pay and good employment conditions for all colleagues. The ball is still in the bank’s court. And we are still ready to resume negotiations!
In the meantime, we remain in active contact with the other trade unions and discuss possible actions. And because 100 days without a collective labour agreement really is a very long time, we have launched hebikaleencao.nl. The website shows at a glance whether a collective labour agreement has finally been reached and keeps you posted on our next steps. If you have ideas for a constructive dialogue with the unions and the bank, please share them with us. We will keep you informed and remain fully committed to achieving a fair outcome!
